Crisp, breezy Friday ahead of season’s coldest weekend air
FRIDAY: A secondary push of crisp, autumn air drops in today behind a dry cold front. We’ll stay bright and mostly sunny, but a steady northerly breeze will add an extra bite to the air. Afternoon temperatures will peak in the low to mid-60s before clear skies send overnight lows tumbling into the 40s.
SATURDAY: Grab the heavier layers—this will be the chillest afternoon of the stretch. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon readings struggling to climb past the mid-to-upper 50s. Skies clear out Saturday night, setting the stage for our coldest night yet this season. Lows will bottom out in the upper 30s in the metro, while surrounding rural Mid-South communities plunge into the mid-30s with widespread frost likely by Sunday morning.
LOOKING AHEAD: Sunshine dominates Sunday as temperatures begin to recover into the upper 50s and low 60s following that frosty start. A steady moderating trend takes hold for the start of the workweek, pushing afternoon highs back into the upper 60s to low 70s through Wednesday. Our next disturbance swings through late Wednesday into Thursday with a stray shower or two, followed by another shot of cooler air Friday that knocks highs back to the mid-60s.
