LANDIS, N.C. (WBTV) - An iconic NASCAR driver surprised the kindergarten class at a school in Rowan County this week.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. stopped by Landis Elementary on Monday, Nov. 2 to read to kindergarteners.
The school posted pictures of Dale Jr.’s visit, which showed him reading “Buster and the Race Car Graveyard” -- a children’s book Earnhardt wrote.
“Our Kindergarten friends had a VERY special guest reader this morning!” Landis Elementary posted on Nov. 2. “A huge thank you to Dale Earnhardt Jr. for stopping by and reading a story with our students!
“Our kindergarteners have recently been learning about authors and illustrators and the important roles they play in creating books. They were especially excited to discover that the book he read was one that he wrote himself!”
While the book is fictional, Earnhardt does have a “race car graveyard” on his property, which includes dozens of wrecked race cars.
