Report: Mizzou quarterback Austin Simmons re-signs with Tigers for 2027
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Matrix Midwest) - Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons has reportedly re-signed with the Tigers for the 2027 season, although a return to college football is not guaranteed, ESPN reported Friday.
Simmons, a transfer from Ole Miss, has helped lead Missouri to a 6-2 record and the No. 18 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Through eight games, Simmons ranks third in the SEC with 16 touchdown passes.
He has thrown two interceptions in 240 attempts and ranks fourth in the conference with 244 passing yards per game.
Despite the new agreement, Simmons could still explore the NFL draft, according to ESPN.
Simmons turns 21 on Sunday and has one year of college eligibility remaining.
His decision to re-sign gives Missouri a chance to build on this season’s momentum in 2027, when a majority of the Tigers’ top skill players will also have eligibility remaining.
