CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (KABC) -- A fireworks explosion in the City of Industry left one man critically injured on Thursday night.
The blast happened around 7 pm. at a home in the 1000 block of Bunbury Drive, near Bassett Park.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said additional fireworks were discovered inside the home after the reported explosion.
First responders quickly evacuated 14 nearby homes as a precaution before bomb squad detectives cleared the area.
"We see our neighbors out, and we ask what's going on. Apparently, there was a loud noise, which appeared to be a firework. We later hear, allegedly, that someone lost their limb, a hand," neighbor Marisela Fernandez said.
Fernandez told Eyewitness News she's concerned about the dangerous discovery in the home.
"I heard them at night, randomly at 1, 2 or 3 a.m. Our dogs wake us up. They're startled. We're startled. But never imagined that it's so near our home," Fernandez said.
All of the families that were evacuated are now back at their homes, though the investigation into the blast is ongoing.
