Edwardsville girl’s Halloween costume prompts invite from ‘The Rock’
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A 10-year-old wrestler who dressed as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for Halloween has been invited by Johnson to a movie premiere in California.
Brooklyn Kepler wrestles with the Edwardsville Wrestling Club. Johnson is her hero, and her 10th birthday party had a Rock theme.
Brooklyn wanted to be Johnson for Halloween, specifically his old-school wrestling look. Her mother, Michelle, made the costume, which included a bald cap, wrestling briefs and muscles.
Michelle posted her progress on social media. When she finished, she said she was pleased with the result.
“I’m mind-blown. It looks so good,” she recalled.
The costume won second place in a local costume contest.
A video of the costume was seen by Johnson. Michelle said her husband opened Instagram and was watching videos of her, but he knew they were not her videos. That is when he realized Johnson was posting a series of the family’s videos, along with a personal message to Brooklyn.
Johnson is flying Brooklyn and her family to California to be his guests at the red carpet premiere of the new “Jumanji” movie.
Brooklyn told First Alert 4 that she was in her mother’s lap crying when the family found out.
“I was so happy. I was in tears,” she said.
Michelle said the family is grateful to Johnson and his team for noticing the video and inviting them. The video and Johnson’s response have gone viral.
“We’re kind of living the dream right now,” Michelle said.
