Rebuilding Together makes a difference

On Oct. 24, volunteers with Rebuilding Together Southern Nevada revitalized five homes along the 1800 and 1900 blocks of Evelyn Avenue in Henderson as part of Make a Difference Day.

Crews completed exterior home painting, rock laying, weeding, debris hauling and curb address painting for local low-income residents, including seniors, veterans and neighbors living with disabilities.

Participating volunteer groups included teams from Georgia-Pacific, NV Energy, PNC Foundation, Innova, Wells Fargo, the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals, Caesars Salute, the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association, Lexicon and Nevada National Security Site.

Make a Difference Day is held each October. The national day of service invites people across the country to make a lasting difference in the neighborhoods they call home.

Nevada HAND opens housing development

Nevada HAND celebrated the opening of Sunrise Ranch Family Apartments in Henderson on Oct. 28.

Sunrise Ranch is an affordable housing development for families. This new community was made possible by support from the city of Henderson, Clark County, the city of Las Vegas, the Nevada Housing Division and the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority. The opening of Sunrise Ranch marks a significant milestone in Nevada HAND’s work to meet Southern Nevada’s urgent need for more attainable, quality housing for families.

Sunrise Ranch Family Apartments, located at the corner of Broadbent Boulevard and Boulder Highway in Henderson, provides 144 energy-efficient, affordable apartment homes for low-income families. It includes units set aside for young adults who are making the transition from foster care to independent living and economic self-sufficiency.

Clark County Social Services’ Step-Up program has dedicated on-site offices at Sunrise Ranch to provide expert support for these young residents, alongside Nevada HAND’s hallmark wraparound Resident Services program.

Sunrise Ranch amenities include a clubhouse, computer lab, fitness center, covered parking, outdoor recreation areas, dog park, library and a playground. The community is in an opportunity-rich neighborhood for families, with schools, parks, public transportation and healthcare nearby. Sunrise Ranch is also directly adjacent to a new walking and biking path, part of the Reimagine Boulder Highway initiative.

The total development cost for Sunrise Ranch was $50.95 million, made possible by financial support from multiple municipalities and agencies.
