Animal advocates urge scrutiny after Gone Rogue Girls Rescue owners charged

Animal advocates are urging the public to hold animal rescues accountable after the owners of a South Jersey rescue were charged with animal cruelty.

Thomas and Brooke Thompson, owners of Gone Rogue Girls Rescue, were charged Thursday. Police said the couple kept dogs in deplorable conditions and illegally euthanized animals.

Advocates are encouraging people to ask questions and speak up if they believe a rescue is operating improperly.

"I want people to ask where the money's going. We, as rescues, it's our responsibility to be transparent with the money you're giving us," said Lily Snow of Pinelands Unleashed Rescue.
