Two women skydivers die after colliding in Southern California
The Knicks are expressing their support and appreciation for Taylor Swift after a couple of players called her reactions at their games “performative.”
While appearing on NBA 2K League’s “Deflected” video series, Tyler Kolek and Deuce McBride were asked who they thought was the “fakest celebrity fan” they’ve seen sitting courtside at an NBA game.
“At the Knicks game, I would say it’s very performative ‘cause they just want to be seen at the game. They’re not necessarily fans,” Kolek said in the video published Nov. 5, before answering, “Maybe Taylor Swift?”
McBride added, “I would agree.”
Kolek questioned if he had “seen her at any other games,” while noting that he “might get some hate” from Swifties.
McBride then named some “solid” celebrity fans who he’s regularly spotted at the games, like Ben Stiller and Tracy Morgan.
Kolek did mention Swift’s busy schedule, saying, “So she can’t come all the time.” However, he added, “It’s a little performative.”
Following the comments and backlash online, a spokesperson for the Knicks defended the superstar.
“Taylor Swift has been a Knicks fan for many years, has a long history with Madison Square Garden, and we are incredibly appreciative of her support of the organization,” the statement shared with TODAY.com on Nov. 6 reads.
TODAY.com reached out to Kolek and McBride for additional comment.
Earlier this year, Swift, along with Este Haim and Mariska Hargitay, was seen sitting courtside in a black and orange tee, supporting the Knicks during the finals. She also attended a Knicks game with now-husband Travis Kelce, and they got married at Madison Square Garden.
Photos of the “Patient Zero” singer at Knicks games date back to 2014, with one game sitting next to Stiller.

Swifties, however, are familiar with Swift’s enthusiasm during sports games, as well as awards shows.
Swift can usually be seen dancing and cheering on her friends and artists she admires at events, as well as Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs team during their NFL games.
