Two men accused of handing out psychedelic gummies to nearly 15 kids on Halloween, police say
SAN DIEGO (Gray News) - Two men in California are accused of giving psilocybin-infused gummies to young trick-or-treaters on Halloween night, according to authorities.
Police arrested Michael Goff, 80, and Shawn Michael Foster, 45, after officers and narcotics detectives searched a home in the Ocean Beach neighborhood Wednesday morning, a press release said.
On Halloween, police said nearly 5 children took packages of the gummies that had been left on the home’s porch. Parents noticed the unusual packaging, intervened and contacted police.
Frank Cary, one of the parents, told NBC 7 San Diego he took a package from his 2-year-old after noticing a design featuring a giraffe and melting text. The label listed a 5-gram dosage and included the words “psilocybin mushrooms,” he said.
Parents confronted a resident before filing a police report and giving the packages to officers.
On November 4, officers recovered suspected psilocybin gummies, cannabis, methamphetamine, firearms, ammunition, and drug sales.
Testing later confirmed the presence of psilocybin.
