A cool Sunday with winter-like cold on the horizon

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - This week will start relatively warm but likely end with winter jackets.

We’ll see cooler temperatures on Sunday, with highs staying in the 60s. While there will be clouds around, they’re not likely to bring any rain.

Morning lows on Monday will likely mean a jacket is needed when heading back to work and school. Expect lows in the 40s and 50s again. The afternoon highs will rebound to the lower 70s.

We’ll keep the 70s for Tuesday through Thursday. The rain chances are incredibly low. Only a 20% chance on Wednesday and Thursday with a strong cold front approaching.

That strong front will bring some of the coldest air of the season so far. As it passes, Thursday will be breezy, but you’ll feel the difference in temperatures by Friday as highs return to the mid-60s.

Lows into Saturday morning will plunge to the 30s and 40s. If the wind becomes light enough, some frost on the north shore can’t be ruled out. Highs over the weekend will likely stay in the 60s. Sunday morning will also bring another round of 30s and 40s before a warm-up into the next work week.
