Suspected robber shot and killed while attempting armed robbery in SW Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspected robber was shot and killed while attempting to rob a man in southwest Houston, police said.

The Houston Police Department said the suspected robber was with two other suspects and had a Glock on him when he took property from the man.

Authorities said a friend of the robbery victim showed up and shot the suspected armed robber in the chest before fleeing the scene with his friend.

Police said the two suspects who were with the suspected armed robber also fled the scene.

HPD did not reveal details about the people involved, but said everyone appears to be in their 20s. Officers said they don't know whether the people involved knew each other.

Investigators said they are reviewing surveillance video from a store and trying to identify everyone involved and any witnesses.

Authorities are urging any witnesses to call HPD or Crime Stoppers.
