LIVE UPDATES: Raiders head back to Bay Area, take on 49ers

The Las Vegas Raiders visit their former Bay Area rival on Sunday when they face the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California.

This is the second straight road game for the Raiders (4-4), who snapped a four-game losing streak with a 38-33 victory over the New York Jets last week.

The 49ers (6-1) had a bye last week after being handed their first loss of the season by the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 25.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Chinn fined

The NFL on Saturday announced it fined Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn for a hit on Garrett Wilson, one that left the New York Jets wide receiver with a concussion.

Chinn sealed the 38-33 win for the Raiders at MetLife Stadium with an interception in the end zone, but was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the previous play. Helmet-to-helmet contact in tackling Wilson on a 15-yard completion gave the Jets an extra 15 yards to the Raiders’ 35-yard line with 14 seconds left.

The NFL deemed it a hit on a defenseless player and fined Chinn $17,911.

Last meeting

Jan. 1, 2023 — The only meeting since the Raiders moved the Bay Area was a 37-34 overtime thriller at Allegiant Stadium, won by the 49ers on Robbie Gould’s 23-yard field goal in the extra session.

It was a wild ride to get to that point.

Jordan Mason broke a 27-27 tie with a 14-yard touchdown run with 2:17 remaining in regulation, but Josh Jacobs answered with a 1-yard scoring plunge with 1:11 on the clock.

It was the first game after Derek Carr was benched in order to protect against an injury that would trigger contract guarantees that would make it more difficult for the team to release him and end his run as the franchise’s starting quarterback.

Jarrett Stidham threw for 365 yards and three scores but was intercepted twice.

Christian McCaffrey ran for 121 yards and a score, adding six catches for 72 yards. San Francisco receiver Brandon Aiyuk had nine catches for 101 yards and a touchdown.
