17-year-old boy charged following 19 burglaries on South, North sides

A 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday in connection with 19 burglaries spanning neighborhoods on the South and North sides, Chicago police said.

The boy was charged with 17 felony counts of burglary, one felony count of attempted burglary and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property, according to police.

Police say the boy is one of the people involved in the string of burglaries, which occurred in Lincoln Park, Ukrainian Village, Lake View, Roseland, Auburn Gresham, Beverly, Washington Heights, New City and Englewood. Twelve of the burglaries occurred on Oct. 15. The rest happened Oct. 16, Sept. 30 and May 7, police said.
