IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A Statesville man was charged with murder and kidnapping after a man died Friday of “traumatic injuries,” police said.
Noah Harris, 27, was charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping Friday, Nov. 6, in connection with the death of Jason Stanley. Police said Harris knew Stanley and that his death was “not a random act of violence.”
Harris was being held at the Iredell County Detention Center without bond and was expected to appear in court this week.
What happened: ‘Suspicious activity’
At about 7:49 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of “suspicious activity” at Museum Road and Millsaps Road near the Gregory Creek Trailhead.
Officers found a person with “traumatic injuries” but did not disclose a cause. The person, later identified as Stanley, was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.
It was not immediately clear how old Stanley was the time of his death as of this writing.
Investigators said they took Harris in for questioning Friday night and later charged him in connection with Stanley’s death.
Arrest records show that Harris was charged with first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder.
WBTV reached out to Statesville police to learn more about the circumstances leading up to Stanley’s death, and have not heard back as of this writing.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406 or submit an anonymous tip through the See Something, Say Something form.
