Video shows hot air balloon make unexpected landing in Menifee neighborhood

A neighbor who saw the balloon come down said it looked like it had a tear.

MENIFEE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Menifee neighborhood got an unexpected visitor when a hot air balloon was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday.

Video shows the balloon slowly descending toward the quiet neighborhood.

Painted midnight blue with a crescent moon and stars, the balloon eventually touched down in an open field behind a home.

Eyewitness News spoke with the woman who filmed the unusual sight.

"I was in this room, and my husband came in, and he looked out this window, and he said, 'Oh, my gosh. Look at the hot air balloon,'" said Maryam Dandan. "It looked like it was an emergency landing. And when we got closer, the hot air balloon looked like it might have had some kind of tear."

Dandan said everyone appeared to be in good spirits after the landing, and thankfully, no one was hurt.
