Starting CB active for Raiders against 49ers despite groin injury
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Las Vegas Raiders starting cornerback Darien Porter is active for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
Porter had been listed as questionable due to a groin injury he suffered on the first defensive play last week against the New York Jets.
After missing Wednesday’s practice, he was able to get in a limited session on Thursday and participate in full on Friday.
“(He’s been) very intentional,” coach Klint Kubiak said. “He’s working really hard to get back. He’s made improvements every day.”
His role against the 49ers is uncertain. Porter should be in the mix to start, but rookies Hezekiah Masses and Jermod McCoy have both seen extensive reps.
Defensive tackle Thomas Booker had already been ruled out for the game with an ankle injury and is inactive. Running back Dylan Laube came down with an illness on Saturday, but he will play.
Defensive tackle Tim Keenan III, who has seen extensive playing time the last two weeks, was once again elevated from the practice squad and is active.
Wide receivers Dont’e Thornton Jr. and Malik Benson, safety Dalton Johnson and offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue are all inactive.
Thornton, a 2025 fourth-round pick, is inactive for the second consecutive week after coming off injured reserve. Kubiak challenged Thornton this week to beat out one of the other receivers and force his way into the lineup.
San Francisco will be without wide receivers Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring). Fellow receiver Christian Kirk has been placed on injured reserve.
