U-Haul offers 30 days of free storage to assist North Georgia flood victims

U-Haul Co. of Atlanta North is offering 30 days of free self-storage and portable container rentals across 14 north Georgia facilities to help residents affected by recent severe flooding in Fannin County and other nearby communities.

The emergency relief initiative is designed to provide displaced families and business owners with dry, secure storage solutions at no cost for one month.

The relief effort follows heavy torrential rainfall that fell from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, causing significant flooding in several towns near the Tennessee border.

The rising floodwaters resulted in extensive water damage to numerous residential properties and commercial businesses throughout the region, leaving many community members in need of immediate storage assistance.

The 30-day free rental offer applies to new self-storage units and U-Box portable containers, based on availability at participating locations.

For U-Box container rentals, the disaster relief offer covers on-site storage at the facility, while home container delivery is available for a modest extra fee.

The 14 participating store locations include facilities in Alpharetta, Buford, Canton, Cumming, Dalton, Holly Springs, Jasper, Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Norcross, Rome, Snellville and Woodstock.

Beyond local disaster response efforts, U-Haul serves as an official disaster responder in partnership with the American Red Cross. Company officials noted that immediate access to self-storage units and portable storage containers is vital for disaster recovery efforts when severe weather strikes local communities.

For customers who require storage assistance beyond the initial 30-day free period, U-Haul provides a one-year fixed rate program at 2,100 company-owned facilities across the United States and Canada.

The price-lock guarantee ensures that unit rental rates will not increase for at least 12 months, without requiring administration fees or security deposits.

Residents impacted by the flooding can arrange for the free storage services by visiting any company-owned and operated facility in the affected areas or by calling the regional office directly at (770) 926-1340.
